New albums to be released by K-pop songstresses in March

SEOUL, March 4 (Yonhap) -- Korea's most influential and popular songstresses including IU, Rosé, and Jessi are set to make a comeback this month.

IU, known to have powerful vocals and one of Korea's most popular female solo artist will be releasing her fifth full album, "Lilac" on March 25th at 6 p.m.

Before "Lilac", the singer-songwriter released her fourth full album "Palette" four years ago, which earned great success. IU also pre-released a B-side track, "Celebrity" from her upcoming album in January and has been dropping a series of teaser videos that contained songs from "Lilac".

On Thursday, the songstress revealed the title as well as the release date of her album on her social media accounts, increasing expectations from fans.

Rosé, the main vocalist from BLACKPINK is also receiving lots of attention as she prepares to unveil her first solo single album "R" on March 12th. After her fellow member, Jennie, released her first solo single, "SOLO" in 2018, Rosé is the second member of BLACKPINK to perform as a solo artist.

YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK's agency explained that the album was titled as the first letter of Rosé's name, "R" in honor of her new beginning as a solo artist.

The main vocalist also contributed in designing the album cover in order to portray a movie like ambiance. The album is planned to be sold in the form of a CD as well as a limited edition LP for the fans.

In addition to the two songstresses, rapper Jessi will be releasing a digital single within the month. While the details for the album title have not been announced yet, Jessi's management agency, P Nation Corporation hinted the fans by uploading a picture of Jessi on Instagram.

Jessi created a challenge craze on social media with her addicting song, "NUNU NANA", which was released in July 2020. The music video earned more than 94 million views on YouTube, contributing to the success of Jessi's song.
