SEOUL, Jan. 13 (Yonhap) – The play “Freud’s Last Session” starring O Yeong-su, the first Korean actor to win a Golden Globe, has been selling out in popularity.

The ticket sales surged for the play even stronger since the Golden Globes Awards, as the outstanding performances of the cast, such as Oh Yeong-su and Shin Gu, have already gone viral.

“Freud’s Last Session” ranked No. 1 in the reservation rankings on Jan. 10, which is the day O Yeong-su won the Best Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Series Award at Golden Globes, and Jan. 11, the next day, according to KOPIS of the Arts Management Support Center on Jan. 12.

On the weekend just before the actor was awarded, on Jan. 8 and Jan. 9, the play came up from 4th place at once.

On the ticket reservation website Interpark, “Freud’s Last Session" has also topped the daily sales rankings since Jan. 10.

The production company Park Company said, “Our ticket sales have been relatively high, but tickets sales increased rapidly after Oh won the award,” adding, “Tickets for all performances that have been slated for this month sold out, and ticket sales for Oh’s performances from Feb. 8 to Mar. 6, which opened on Jan. 10, are also rapidly increasing.”

“Freud’s Last Session,” which opened on Jan. 7, is set on September 3, 1939, when Britain declared an all-out war with Germany and entered World War II, and it is a two-person play based on the imagination of Sigmund Freud, the master of psychoanalysis, and C.S. Lewis, the writer of “The Chronicles of Narnia” and English literature, being in a pedantic debate. O Yeong-su and Shin Gu are playing Freud in the play.

Oh Yeong-su, who first took the stage on Jan. 8, said through a production company, "This time to concentrate on my performances is precious and happy. I will try my best so that the time of the audience who came to visit is not wasted.”
