'The Sound of Magic' ranks No. 4 on global Netflix chart

SEOUL, May 9 (Yonhap) – Netflix’s new original series “The Sound of Magic” has ranked No. 4 in the global rankings in two days of its release.

According to data released by streaming analytics company FlixPatrol on May 9, “The Sound of Magic” placed 4th on its latest global chart for TV programs available on the streaming service, three steps higher than May 7(7th), which was the day after its release.

By country, the series topped the chart in a total of 12 countries, including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, the Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.

It ranked second in Japan, Bahrain, Egypt, India, Morocco and Thailand, and third in Nigeria, Singapore and Vietnam.

The drama ranked No. 7 in South Korea but it wasn’t named on the TOP 10 of the charts in the U.S. and major European countries, so it was not reflected in the ranking.

“The Sound of Magic” depicts the story after a magician Lee Eul(Ji Chang-wook) appears in front of a girl named Yoon Ah-yi(Choi Sung-eun), who lost her dream, and a boy named Na Il-deung(Hwang in-youp), who is forced to dream.

FlixPatrol scores and aggregates the rankings by country based on the TOP 10 rankings provided by Netflix.

According to the TOP 10 of Netflix’s chart for TV programs as of May 8, “Business Proposal” starring Ahn Hyo-seop and Kim Se-jeong ranked No. 7, while “Twenty-Five Twenty-One” starring Kim Tae-ri and Nam Joo-hyuk ranked No. 10.
