K-pop concert at Expo 2020 Dubai…President Moon visits performances

DUBAI, Jan. 17 (Yonhap) – President Moon Jae-in, who has been visiting the United Arab Emirates, watched the K-pop concert that was held as a "Korea's National Day" ceremony in Dubai Expo on Jan. 16 (Dubai time).

The concert, which was held at Jubilee Park, the largest outdoor auditorium in the World Exposition of Dubai, was visited by around 6,000 people to show the heat of K-pop.

In the concert, along with PSY, Stray Kids, the ambassadors of Korean Pavilion at Dubai Expo, Sun-mi, international girl group “(G) I-dle,” Golden Child, who won the Best Choice Awards at 2021 Asia Artist Awards, and Forestella, the representative group of Crossover music, have participated.

First Lady Kim Jung-sook, Chung Eui-yong, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Korea, Moon Sung-wook, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea, the Bureaucrat Lee Ho-seung, and Park Hyeong-joon, the Mayor of Busan, have watched the concert with interests.

Especially, when PSY came onto the stage and introduced the visit of President Moon, Moon would wave hands towards the audience.

After the performances, President Moon had a surprise visit to the K-pop singers, who take roles as Korean ambassadors to introduce the country throughout the world.
