SEOUL, June 24 (Yonhap) -- Sequel of the worldwide hit film “Top Gun: Maverick” which has returned to screen in 36 years is going head to head against another sequel film “The Witch: Part 2 The Other One” which took 4 years to screen.

According to the data collected on June 24, using the integrated network of movie tickets by the Korean Film Council, “Top Gun 2” which premiered on June 22, attracted more than 146 thousand viewers and was ranked first on the box office.

“Top Gun: Maverick” which came out 36 years after the first film which premiered on 1986 drew a lot of attention, thanks to positive reviews from the test screening by Tom Cruise’s fans. As of 8:30 a.m. reservation rate of “Top Gun 2” is almost at 60 percent.

Director Park Hoon-jung’s moive “The Witch: Part 2 The Other One” which premiered 2 weeks ago is following the lead of “Top Gun 2” with 69 thousand daily viewers and total of 1.83 million views.

The Roundup which premiered 6 weeks ago is still popular amongst the viewers. Roundup was ranked the 3 rd on the box office by bringing in over 50 thousand daily viewers and total of 11.72 million viewers.

Other than those movies mentioned above have premiered on to the screen this week.

Among the new films, the documentary “I am More” by drag artist Mo Ji-min, animated version of Korean TV star Sam Hammington’s sons William and Bentley Hammington “Willvengers” and “My Perfect Roommate” featuring famous Korean actress Na Moon-hee was ranked within the top 10 of the box office.

The documentary “Your Face” by korean caricature artist Jung Eun-hye who suffered from the Down syndrome and drama “Touchy warning“ starring Hong Su-a also awaits the audience.
