SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Yonhap) — Starring Jung Hae-in and Jisoo, JTBC Saturday-Sunday drama "Snowdrop" will end a week earlier.

"Snowdrop" will end after broadcasting the 15th and 16th episodes in a row on Jan. 30, according to JTBC on Friday.

The show explained that the decision was made in consideration of the fact that only the last sixteenth episode will remain in the first week of February and there would be an increase in viewership during the Lunar New Year Holidays.

Set against the background of the country's pro-democracy movement in the late 1980s, the show by JTBC has drawn controversy over its depiction of a fictional romance between a South Korean university student and a North Korean spy.

Since then, a court dismissed an injunction request against "Snowdrop," allowing the controversial show to air as scheduled but the ratings remained in the 1 to 3 percent range, showing poor performance.

As a sequel to "Snowdrop," "Forecasting Love and Weather" starring Park Min-young and Song Kang will be broadcast.
