SEOUL, Jan. 19 (Yonhap) – Moonbyul, who has showed powerful rap and performances in K-pop girl group Mamamoo, will make a comeback with her own album on Jan. 19.

It is Moonbyul’s first solo album in about a year and 11 months since her second mini album “DARK SIDE OF THE MOON,” which was released in February, 2020.

Ahead of the release of the third mini album “6equence,” the singer explained in a press conference, “I have prepared the album for over a year from the thought of wanting to show better music to the fans.”

The new album expressed the theme of “love” through many scenes.

Moonbyul repeatedly tried to capture the moment of first meeting the loved one, happy days, boredom, farewell, and regrets after breaking up into a short film.

Moonbyul said, "Love is close to everyone, but you can't do whatever you want," adding, "I wanted the stories of the songs to be connected to each other. You can follow the emotions throughout the album.”

The title song “LUNATIC” depicts complex emotions that a lover in boredom may feel through the rhythm and melody of the house music. The dance crew “HOOK,” which made themselves known through the program “Street Woman Fighter,” and the leader Aiki participated in choreography.

The song “G999” with the rapper Mirani and a song of R&B genre “Shutdown” with the singer Seori were pre-released ahead of the release of the album.

Monbyul said, “I waited my turn as other (Mamamoo) members released their solo albums,” adding, “I gained confidence as Solar cheered me up by saying ‘You met the right album for yourself this time.’”

She confessed, “I had a lot of thoughts in my mind when I turned into 30 years old,” adding, “But now I have decided to do everything I want as I past 30.”

The singer has recently appeared in entertainment shows and expanded her field of performances.

Moonbyul tried football on SBS sports entertainment show “Kick a Goal,” and has been performing as a host of NAVER NOW’s audio show “Studio Moonnight” for nearly a year.

Moonbyul made a New Year's wish, "If many people love the new album, it would be enough for me,” adding, "It will be hard to overcome the barriers on the (music) chart, but I would be happy if the song ranks within Top 50 or further to the top.”

Moonbyul mentioned, "In terms of satisfaction with this album, it's about 97% out of 100%," adding, "The remaining 3% is made by fans, but unfortunately, I can’t meet the fans in the COVID-19 situation."

“Moonbyul as a singer? I want Moonbyul’s genre of music to be one and “only.” I wish it could be remembered as the music that only Moonbyul can do.”
