SEOUL, June 21 (Yonhap) -- The tickets for Lim Yunchan (18, Korea National University of Arts), who won the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in the United States, are rapidly selling for future performances in Korea.

According to the LOTTE CONCERT HALL on Monday, tickets for the “Classic Revolution 2022” concert, held at the Lotte Concert Hall on August 20, in which Lim Yunchan is participating, have been sold out not long after the news of Lim Yunchan’s Van Cliburn victory was reported on June 19.

In this performance, Lim Yunchan plans to perform Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 along with conductor Kim Sun-wook and KBS Symphony Orchestra.

When Lim Yunchan advanced to the final of the Van Cliburn competition on June 13, there were about 60 seats left. However, when the news of his victory was reported on Sunday, all the seats were sold out within a day.

All tickets for "Bach Plus," a performance commemorating the 15th anniversary of the founding of Moc Production, a classical music agency scheduled for August 10, are also sold out.

“Bach Plus” is a performance planned by Lim Yunchan's agency, Moc Production, to mark the 15th anniversary of its founding. In addition to Lim Yunchan, violinists Park Sue-ye, Kim Jae-young, Kim Young-uck, pianist Sohn Min-su, Lee Hyo-joo, clarinetist Jo Seong-ho, who are all part of the agency, will be performing.

Pianist Sohn Min-soo (Professor of Korea National University of Arts) is Lim Yunchan’s “teacher” who has been teaching him since he was 12 years old. At a press conference held immediately after winning the competition, Lim Yunchan called Professor Sohn Min-soo "the great teacher in Korea" and showed his respect.

As much as it is a performance where Lim Yunchan is performing on the same stage with his teacher, domestic classical fans have been paying attention.

“The schedule for Lim Yunchan’s domestic performances has not been set, but interest in collaborative performances have been growing,” Moc production said. “As the remaining tickets were quickly sold out immediately after Lim Yunchan’s victory was announced, we are discussing with the venue about additional tickets.”

As spaced seats have been applied in accordance with COVID-19, they are considering whether more seats can be seated.

On October 5, Lim Yoonchan will perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 along with One Korea Orchestra conducted by Jung Myung-hoon at the Lotte Concert Hall. Tickets for the show will go on sale next month.

Lim Yoonchan, who is currently pulling off his schedule in the United States, has not decided a date to return back to Korea.

The Van Cliburn Competition provides support for the winners from the 1st till the 3rd place with concerts, album release and promotion for three years. The “2022 Cliburn Gold Medalist” concert is scheduled to be held in Fort Worth, Texas on September 28 and 29.

The Van Cliburn Competition, which Lim Yunchan won as the youngest in the competition’s history on Saturday (local time), is a representative piano competition in North America along with the Chopin Competition, the International Tchaikovsky Competition, and the Queen Elisabeth Competition, which are considered to be the world's three major music competitions.
