SEOUL, Jan. 21 (Yonhap) – “Spider-Man: No Way Home” continues racking up huge numbers in the box office with no equal. The movie, which was released on Dec. 15, 2021, has exceeded 7 million cumulative audiences in a month.

“Spider-Man” attracted 7,007,000 people while remaining in the first place in the box office since last weekend, according to the data by the Korea Film Council on Jan. 21.

"Spider-Man: No Way Home" has become the first movie to surpass 7 million in admissions since the coronavirus pandemic began in 2020. “Spider-Man: Far from Home, the previous “Spider-Man” series, garnered 8,020,000 audiences.

Although “Spider-Man,” which maintained its first place since the release, yielded the first place to Korea movies “The Policeman’s Lineage” and “Special Delivery” for a while, it soon topped the box office again.

“Special Delivery,” the action movie starring Park So-dam, the musical animation “Sing 2,” and “The Policeman’s Lineage” starring Cho Jin-woong and Choi Woo-shik, each attracted around 10,000 audiences and ranked No. 2 to No. 4.

As there is a significant decrease in the number of audiences visiting the theater, “Spider-Man” is expected to continue to top the box office until Korean masterpieces, which aim at New Year holidays, are released.

The live ticket sales for "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure” and “King Maker,” which will be released simultaneously on Jan. 26, have each entered the chart with 24% at No. 1 and 15.7% at No. 3.

Among the movies in theaters, “Spider-Man” is the highest at 17.9%. "Sing 2" accounts for 9.8% while "Special Delivery" accounts for 7%.
