New girl group Kep1er from Mnet's 'Girls Planet 999' to begin idol career

SEOUL, Nov. 24 (Yonhap) -- Kep1er, a girl group formed through a reality audition TV show called "Girls Planet 999: The Girls Saga," will officially debut in the music industry next month.

Wake One Entertainment and Swing Entertainment, which will be co-managing Kep1er, said, "Kep1er--consisting of Choi Yu-jin, Xiaoting, Mashiro, Kim Chaehyun, Kim Da-yeon, Hikaru, Huening Bahiyyih, Seo Yeongeun, and Kang Ye-seo--will release its first album on Dec. 14."

The nine-member group's name comes from combining the word "Kep," which means catching a dream, and the number "1," meaning the members will come together and become the best. Kep1er has members with South Korean, Chinese, and Japanese nationality.

The multinational act plans to carry out various activities over the next two and a half years.
