SEOUL, May 13 (Yonhap) -- The rookie band "Richman and Groove Nice" has advanced to the finals in the International Blues Challenge held in the United States.

According to The Korea Blues Society on the 13th, Richman and Groove Nice were included in the top 5 bands that are advancing to the finals at the 37th International Blues Challenge held in Memphis from the 6th to the 9th.

The World Blues Competition is a festival in which blues musicians representing each country as well as each state in the United States participate.

Rather than an amateur contest, it is well known as an event where professional musicians compete for their skills. Christone Kingfish Ingram, who was selected as the Best Contemporary Blues Album at the "64th Grammy Awards" had also participate in this competition.

Although in 2019, Richman and Groove Nice participated in this competition and were eliminated from the preliminary round, this year, they showed off their skills among 100 teams and got into the top 5.

"The local audiences, experts, and fellow artists who watched the performance praised it as 'the best blues artist in this competition' or 'a unique style of blues with a strong rhythm and vintage guitar tone," conveyed The Korea Blues Society.

Although Ha Heon-jin, who participated in the solo section of this competition could not make it to the finals, it was evaluated as "more like native blues that the ones in the US mainland" and also introduces Korean blues music to many people.
