SEOUL, Sept. 27 (Yonhap) -- Singer-turned-actress Lizzy (officially known as Park Soo-young, 29) was demanded a one year prison sentence from prosecutors on Monday for drunk driving.

In her final statement, Lizzy said, "As a person who did not want to cause harm to society, I am really disappointed and ashamed of myself," adding, "I deeply regret my actions and have been feeling guilty every day after the incident that I even reflect upon my decisions in my dreams."

"I promise not to commit this disgraceful trouble again," Lizzy said adding, "I'm really scared of myself for causing this accident, but it's scarier to be judged by the law here. I promise that I will never come back here again for anything."

Lizzy's lawyer admitted to all the charges and appealed for leniency. The lawyer also mentioned that the former singer had reached an agreement with the taxi driver who was injured by Lizzy's drunk driving.

The 29-year-old actress who appeared at court in a black jacket, showed tears as if she were overwhelmed with emotions during her final statement. As Lizzy acknowledged all the charges, the trial ended in about five minutes.

The court concluded the final argument and designated Oct. 28 as the sentence due date.

Lizzy was put on trial after slamming into a taxi with her car at 10:12 p.m. near the south intersection of Yeongdong Bridge in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul on May 18.

Initially, the police booked Lizzy on charges of drunk driving only under the Road Traffic Act, but the prosecution also added charges, considering that the taxi driver was injured for about two weeks.

At the time of the accident, Lizzy's blood alcohol content was over 0.08 percent, a level that calls for his driver's license to be revoked. Lizzy released a statement acknowledging and reflecting on her mistakes through her agency shortly after the accident was discovered.

Lizzy debuted as a member of the idol girl group After School in 2010, participated in the unit group Orange Caramel, and has been acting ever since 2018.
