SEOUL, May 5 (Yonhap) -- Choi Seong-kyung (23, Jeonbuk, Chonnam University, Department of Communication) won the first place in Miss Chunhyang Beauty Pageant, becoming the best traditional beauty in Korea.

Choi was selected as ‘Jin (the first place)’ of Miss Chunhyang Beauty Pageant, held as one of the events of 92nd Chunhyang festival on the 4th at Gwanghalluwon Garden in Namwon city, North Jeolla province.

She said, “I participated in this pageant to enjoy special experience, and I fortunately got the good result as well,” adding, “Applying my major, I would like to tell a story of Namwon and Chunhyang through radio.”

Following Choi, Jeong Ga-ya (24, Seoul), Kim Gyu-ri (24, Seoul, Sungkyunkwan University, English Department), Jin Se-min (21, Seoul, Ewha Womans University, International Department), Lee Bin (23, Gwangju, Dankook University, Department of Arts), and Kim Min-ji (24, Gyeonggi, Kookmin University, Department of Business Management) were respectively selected for ‘Sun(the second place),’ ‘Mi(the third place),’ ‘Jeong(the fourth place),’ ‘Sook(the fifth place),’ ‘Hyun(the sixth place),’ and Miss Congeniality.

Winners are awarded up to 10 million won of prize money and trophies.

340 people from all over the country participated in this year's competition, and 30 people who passed the document and interview screening went to the finals.

Miss Chunhyang Beauty Pageant is the highlight of the Chunhyang festival, producing star class celebrities such as actress Choi Ran (1979), Park Ji-young (1988), Oh Jeong-hae (1992), and Yoon Son-ha (1994).
