SEOUL, Jan. 20 (Yonhap) – “Our Beloved Summer,” a romance series starring Choi Woo-shik and Kim Da-mi, has entered TOP 10 of the global chart.

SBS Monday and Tuesday drama “Our Beloved Summer” has ranked No.9 on the “TOP TV Shows on Netflix” on Wednesday, according to streaming analytics firm “FlixPatrol” on Jan. 20.

The drama shows a great popularity as it ranks No.1 on Netflix charts by country, such as Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

While the Netflix original series, which are called the “masterpiece,” such as “Hellbound” and “The Silent Sea,” have ranked high since the release and drew global attention since “Squid Game,” romance dramas also seem to constantly gain popularity.

“The King’s Affection,” which depicts the love of a princess who dresses as a man, and “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” which depicts a pure love between a city girl and a guy from a fishing village, entered the global TOP TV Shows on Netflix towards the end of the drama.

The drama critics Kong Hee-jung said, "Korean romance series has a lot of detailed lines and story development that allow viewers to empathize," adding, "Although Asian dramas, such as Taiwanese dramas, feel similar, I think Korean dramas have strengths in revealing the character’s state of mind.”

Netflix will also feature a variety of romance dramas this year, including "The Fabulous," which depicts the dreams and love of the young in the fashion industry, and "Love War," which depicts the story of a woman(Kim Ok-bin) who abnormally hates to lose to a man and a man(Yoo Tae-oh) who excessively suspects women.
