GANGNEUNG, Oct. 13 (Yonhap) -- The prospects are dark for the “Squid Game” which was reported to be held by St. John’s Hotel in Gangneung due to its violation against the quarantine guidelines.

Gangneung City issued an administrative order banning the hotel’s event, “St. Game” theming Netflix original series “Squid Game” which was to take place on the 24th, according to the City official Wednesday.

As the city is under social distancing 3rd level, an event held by such facility is against the quarantine guidelines.

Gangneung City has ordered the hotel to stop the event and warned of charging fines according to relevant laws if the facility runs against the quarantine guides.

Social distancing 3rd level not only prohibits holding any events including parties in accomodations but also limits the number of accommodative people to 8 including the vaccinated and only 3/4 of all rooms can be operated.

“Even if the social distancing level lowers to 2nd on the 24th, prohibitions of events will still be valid. So we ordered for the event’s halt,” said an official from Gangneung City.

Earlier, the hotel posted an announcement that they will hold a game theming Netflix series, “Squid Game,” the global syndrome and has been recruiting for participants.

It is said that a lot of people applied for the event as the hotel announced that they will provide 5 million won to the final one survivor of the four kinds of games they are planning.

The accommodation is considering over cancelling the event or rearranging it into a scale that complies with the quarantine guidelines.
