Movie 'Hostage' starring top actor Hwang Jung-min to premiere this summer

SEOUL, June 10 (Yonhap) -- Following director Ryoo Seung-wan's upcoming blockbuster "Mogadishu," "Hostage (tentative title)," starring actor Hwang Jung-min, has confirmed its release this summer.

A movie distributor, NEW released a launching poster of "Hostage" on Thursday after the film was confirmed to be premiere in the summer.

"Hostage" is a reality action thriller in which actor Hwang Jung-min's character is kidnapped one day without any evidence or witnesses, and has to risk his life to escape.

Actor Hwang Jung-min plays a character with his own name, and a rookie film director Pil Gam-seong wrote and directed the movie.

"Hostage is actor Hwang Jung-min's third work with film company, Filmaker R&K, which also produced movies such as "The Unjust" and "Veteran," as well as the upcoming "Mogadishu."

The exact release dates for both "Hostage" or "Mogadishu" has yet to be confirmed.

Prior to Korean films, Disney had announced the release of two films in July including "Black Widow" starring actress Scarlett Johansson and Emily Blunt's "Jungle Cruise."
