DAEJEON, June 8 (Yonhap) -- The Korea Minting Corporation announced that the official commemorative medal of Son Heung-min, captain of the Korean national football team and striker of Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League, will be released next month in the form of coins and banknotes.

One of Korea's top currency designer will produce the commemorative medal, which will also contain a sketch of Son Heung-min's dynamic image from games and other elements symbolizing the football player.

The company plans to increase the value and credibility of the commemorative medals by assigning product serial numbers on the letter of guarantees.

Some of the proceeds from the sale will be spent on developing Korea's youth football according to Son Heung-min's wishes.

The Korea Minting & Security Printing Corporation, which carries out various medal projects to raise the Korean national brand, has planned the medal for Son Heung-min, who is actively enhancing his national prestige in the football world.

"Son Heung-min's performance in the sports industry is giving pride and confidence to many people who are suffering from the corona virus infection," said Ban Jang-sik, president of the Korea Minting Corporation. "We will try to reflect Son's efforts into the commemorative medal."
