Memorial museum on history of ethnic Koreans in Japan

This photo taken April 27, 2022, shows people visiting the Utoro Peace Memorial Museum in the city of Uji, Kyodo Prefecture, western Japan, ahead of the April 30 opening of the museum. The museum provides an overview of the history and life of ethnic Koreans now residing in Utoro, a small village in the city. Their ancestors were forced to migrate to Utoro and mobilized to work for Japan's military during World War II. The Korean Peninsula was under Japanese colonial rule during that period. After Japan's defeat in 1945, the Koreans were left in the area with no water or electricity amid discrimation against them. (Yonhap)
